Our Commitment To The Environment

Making a Difference to the Environment

Closed Loop Recycling

As a leading Recycling and Waste Management Company, Parry & Evans specialise in Closed Loop Recycling – a process where we collect, recycle and repurpose products for consumers to use again.
Ideal for products that do not lose any qualities during the recycling process e.g., aluminum, glass and plastics, Closed Loop Recycling lessens harm to the environment and wildlife, reduces pollution and saves space in landfill for recyclables.

Reducing Carbon Footprint

Sustainability is the driving force behind Parry & Evans, and we measure the impact we have on the environment by using an approved Carbon Footprint Calculator (naturespackaging.org).

Glass

recycling a glass bottle saves approximately 7 tonnes of CO2 (eq) per tonne when it is recycled.

General Waste

every tonne of general waste diverted from landfill to generate energy saves around 200kg of CO2 per tonne.

Paper

the amount of energy and materials it takes to make a tonne of office paper is reduced by 4.3 tonnes of CO2 when it’s recycled.

Cardboard

cardboard recycling saves approximately 4 tonnes of CO2 (eq) compared to virgin card production.

Wood

re-using 40 wooden pallets saving approximately 1 tonne of CO2 (eq).

Metal

Metal recycling has a major saving in CO2 generation when compared to manufacturing from the raw materials. The production of 1 tonne of new aluminium can use between 4 and 20 tonnes of CO2 depending on the electricity used. In steel, there is a saving per tonne of recycled steel of around 1.5 tonnes CO2 per tonne.

Plastic

a PET bottle (most widely recycled plastic in the world) represents a saving of up to 79% of CO2 compared to production of virgin PET.

Committed to Change

We are also making changes within our business:

  • All of our electricity comes from 100% renewable sources.
  • We are in the process of upgrading the electricity supply to our Welshpool depot in order to dispose of two large diesel generators.
  • Our Sales team are moving to electric cars.
  • We have installed an air source heat pump in our Welshpool offices to replace storage heaters and maintain a constant temperature.
