A Year of Growth at Parry & Evans in 2025: Supporting Smarter Recycling Solutions for Businesses

A Year of Growth at Parry & Evans in 2025 Supporting Smarter Recycling Solutions for Businesses

2025 was a year that demanded more from businesses across England and Wales, particularly when it came to Recycling and Waste Management.

Alongside rising operational costs, new business recycling regulations were introduced in England, building on requirements that were already established in Wales. These required businesses to Manage their Waste More Effectively, Demonstrate Compliance, Reduce Landfill Reliance, and Adopt Smarter and Sustainable Waste Management Solutions.

For many organisations, 2025 was the first year these regulations directly affected their operations. For others, particularly in Wales, it was about refining existing systems to improve efficiency, consistency and compliance.

At Parry & Evans, the last two years have been about supporting businesses through this transition period to ensure compliance with the new regulations. To us, this meant more than simply maintaining waste collections – it meant Investing in Capacity and Infrastructure, Strengthening our Recycling Capabilities, and Ensuring that we were Ready To Help Customers Recycle Smarter and More Efficiently, with confidence.

With that in mind, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on some of the key milestones we achieved at Parry & Evans throughout 2025.

Supporting Businesses Through a Year of Changing Recycling Regulations

For many of the local businesses we support, 2025 was a major year for recycling compliance. In England, the introduction of Simpler Recycling significantly shifted how commercial waste must be separated, stored, and collected. In Wales, businesses entered their first full calendar year under the same regulations, where we saw a shift from the focus of just compliance to optimisation and best practice.

Located along the Wales and England border and working with businesses in both, we were able to refine our approach to the new regulations based on real life experience. Allowing us to comprehensively support organisations to:

  • Review Existing Recycling Setups
  • Identify Practical Improvements
  • Simplify Waste Management Processes
  • Improve Material Quality and Segregation
  • Best Advise on Sustainable Material Alternatives

Our new Total Waste Management audits played a key role in helping businesses to understand what was required, what was already working well, and where efficiencies could be gained. For many of the businesses we worked with, the compliance with the new recycling regulations became less about disruption and more about opportunity: a chance to improve processes, reduce contamination, and lower any unnecessary waste costs.

Investing in Recycling Capacity to Meet Growing Demand

As more businesses adapted to new recycling requirements, the demand for reliable waste services across England and Wales increased. Throughout 2025, we continued to invest in our fleet, equipment, and infrastructure to ensure a consistent, high-quality, reliable service.

Key investments included:

  • 2 x Renault T480 vehicles to strengthen our transport capability
  • Develon DL320-7 loader to support on-site operations
  • A Liebherr LH22 material handler to increase reach, safety and efficiency within our processing operations
  • New hooklift vehicles, custom-built skips and containers
  • A 50-yard RoRo compactor container to increase capacity.

These investments weren’t about growth alone, they were also about ensuring we could continue to support our clients, as recycling volumes increased and compliance expectations evolved.

Strengthening On-Site Recycling and Waste Processing Capabilities

Alongside fleet growth, we focused on improving our internal processes and operations of how we handle materials after they have arrived on site. Upgraded handling equipment and processing infrastructure allows for safer operations, faster turnaround times, and more consistent recycling outcomes.

In a year where material quality and correct segregation were critical, having the right infrastructure in place made a real difference. These improvements ensured we could manage higher volumes efficiently, support a wider range of waste streams, and maintain the standards required in an increasingly regulated environment.

Turning Recycling into a Business Advantage and Cash Rebates

One of the most positive changes we saw in 2025 was a shift in how businesses viewed recycling. An increased number of organisations began to recognise that well-segregated waste is not just about compliance or an obligation, it can also reduce costs and earn potential rebates.

Cleaning and sorting materials like glass, paper, card, plastics, and metals can drastically improve the materials recycling outcomes; with materials that are higher quality or in much better condition having the potential to maximise rebate earnings whilst reducing residual waste charges.

Throughout the year, we supported customers with guidance on:

  • Optimising Valuable Recyclable Waste Streams
  • Improving Segregation and Storage at Source
  • Reducing Contamination
  • Improving Infrastructure and Operations to Streamline Collections

Equipment such as static compactors played such an important role, helping businesses to reduce waste collections, improve site safety, and lower overall haulage requirements.

For many businesses, smarter recycling empowered them to become more practical in the ways that they managed their waste streams, with a view to improve efficiency, control costs, and future-proof their operations.
