Parry & Evans Ltd
IN THE BUSINESS OF RECYCLING
Parry and Evans, the name synonymous with
paper recycling, has been serving the people
of Wales and Border Counties for over 50 years.
Now one of the premier recycling companies
in the UK, the Welshpool based family group
has been recycling paper and cardboard for
OVER five decades.
The business was started back in 1961 when
Maurice Parry began recycling hessian sacks,
paper bags and baler twine at the Old Smithy
in Pool Quay. He was joined by his son-in-law
John (Jack) Evans and the business expanded
into new larger premises at the Old Station Yard in Welshpool.
Steve Evans became the second generation of the family to become involved in 1977, and in 1981 Parry & Evans moved to new premises on Severn Farm Industrial Estate as the business grew into the waste paper recycling industry. The Severn Farm operation has since expanded and is now on a one and a half acre site with Lee and Jordan Evans, Steve’s sons, becoming the third generation of the family to join the company after both graduated from Northampton University with degrees in Environmental Management.
In 2010, with demand rising, Parry & Evans opened a new plant on Deeside now managed by nephew Nick Owen, to further serve the needs of customers in the North Wales area.
Following in-depth consulting on waste disposal, training and health & safety, Parry & Evans Ltd has worked hard to achieve the industry standard recognition of ISO 9001, demonstrating its commitment to working to the highest quality standards.
Today, Parry & Evans employs over 50 people, operates more than 30 vehicles with more than 200 skips deployed nationwide. Grades of materials recycled range from cardboard, plastic, and office waste through to newspaper and pamphlets and best white grade one paper.
All waste paper is graded, baled and stored on site, ready for transportation to paper mills across the world. The company has specialist processing machinery for preparing materials for their return into useful materials. Custom equipped hook lift vehicles exchange full paper and cardboard banks from a wide range of locations such as supermarket car parks, village community halls and local authority and commercial premises and hospitals.
Parry & Evans skips can be spotted in all the major council, community and supermarket car parks for the disposal of cardboard and paper. Where a larger skip is required, Parry & Evans provides an ‘open bin’ which is loaded from the top by forklift or similar loader or a ‘closed bin’ that is loaded through a rear lockable access door.
So whatever the type, quantity, form or location of fibre-based material, the company is equipped to collect and reprocess it for re-use again.
Parry & Evans is totally committed to a policy of maximum reclaimation of recyclable materials using the best available equipment and practices to do that. Liaising closely with the local authorities and with the help of local communities, the company is working to reduce the amount of waste that is land filled and reclaim as much as possible, to the benefit of the environment and the local economy.
