We are a long-established family firm, going back 5 decades. We were recycling materials way before the current trend to recycle nearly everything came into vogue.

1950s
Cadillac Back in the late 1950’s Mr J.M. Parry (Maurice) saw a niche in the market for bag recycling mainly to Farmers. This was long before any government, or Green movement initiative was ever thought of, and at the time was almost revolutionary.
1960s
1960s During the early 1960’s the ‘Son in Law’, John Evans, became involved and this is where the PARRY & EVANS name stems. John Evans took the business forward to include Waste Paper Recycling as well as the Bags. At this time it became almost unworkable at Pool Quay due to the space available so new premises were acquired at Welshpool Railway Station.

As the business grew it became apparent that there was a need for a new Partner in the firm and in the mid 1970’s Mr J.M. Parry’s grandson, John’s son, Stephen Evans joined. Further growth in the business saw yet another move soon after, and the business moved to its current base at Severn Farm Industrial Estate.

1980s and 1990s
1980s

Sadly Mr J.M. Parry has since passed away, but taking the firm from strength to strength, John and Stephen Evans have proved themselves to be very capable and competent Managers, forging partnerships with companies and almost trebling the workforce.
Leading up towards the millennium, the partners added Confidential Waste Destruction to the business. This involved a new building, new machinery and new vehicles. A franchise was acquired from REISSWOLF* and this is now a thriving venture.

Today

A quick look at the business now sees approximately 3000 tonnes of paper turned around a week and exports to exotic places throughout the world such as China, India and Indonesia.
All this under the watchful eyes of the Directors, Mr. John Evans and Mrs Rosemary Evans, and Stephen Evans, making this a truly Family business.

Today
Grades of materials recycled today range from Plastic, Cardboard, through Newspaper and Pamphlets to Best White grade 1. All graded, baled and stored on site, ready for transportation to Paper mills throughout Europe and the World.
The company has specialist processing machinery for preparing materials for their return to use as useful raw materials.
Parry & Evans Ltd memberships include -:
The British Safety Council,
The Road Haulage Association,
And The Recycling Association.
Also on the environmental theme, the last 5 years the company has seen its fuel policy change, ensuring all of the company vehicles are fuelled by diesel.
More so, a part of the business that does not get publicised is the environmental work Parry & Evans carries out on a purely voluntary basis. On the South boundary at Severn Farm Industrial Estate Depot a Nature Reserve with a large lake to which surface water drains. Parry & Evans recently built two interceptors to catch the water and then under guidance from the Environment Agency built a reed filter bed. This ensures the surface water is at its purest when it enters the lake for the fish, birds and many species of wildlife that can be found in the reserve.
